The site is beautiful. Trek to it is tough so UTV rental is recommended. Owners are responsive, accommodating, and kind. We had a great time aside from the bad weather.

A really nice retreat. Really cool to use the indoor fire stove for heat. Lots to do at the site too with the kayaks, outdoor kitchen, tented seating area. Gonna come back next year during the summer!

This campsite was great! during the busy time of year, I can see it being nice because its slightly down the street from the main little wolf campground. So you are a bit removed from the main area but still within walking distance to all of its amenities! I was there when the main camp was closed so the beach was very nice and quiet! The fire pit was also a very nice touch!

Weekend Trip to Brookview Cabin
This space was amazing! Ted was so attentive and communicative - gave us an extremely warm welcome.
The cabin itself was perfect, couldn’t ask for more. The space heater kept us warm, the bed was comfy, the shower had warm water and the view was beautiful.
We will be returning!

A great, convenient, and thoughtfully laid out site. I stayed two nights while exploring the trails and really enjoyed the view over the field with their horses during the day and the stars at night were amazing. The outhouse was convenient and clean as well. I definitely plan on returning someday soon!

We arrived late and left early so didn't get to enjoy everything the site offered, but were pleased with our spot and would happily come back another time to explore more. We appreciated the privacy of our spot and the fact that there were hookups if we wanted them. The place is a bit hard to find at night (Google Maps and Apple Maps take you to different places), so recommend arriving while you still have some light.

We really appreciated finding such a nice site, with full hookups, in late October, when most all the regular campgrounds have closed for the season. We end up staying extra days, 4 days total, because of rain. Cozy spot. Still close to town for restaurants, laundry, groceries. Loved getting in a bike ride on the newly opened Adirondack Rail Trail, accessed just down the street.
Only negative, with the rain, the site called Forest View 1 got quite muddy. Too many campers have laid out big rugs, killing a large section of the grass. Otherwise, the sites are all grass.

Weekend Trip to Camp TedRock Adirondack Retreat
Camp TedRock is awesome! The site is beautiful, well maintained, and peaceful. There are lots of details that show the care put into the experience, like the extra cot, extra lanterns, a bag of kindling, and hand written notes on nearby mountains and lakes. We would definitely come back!

Ted’s set up is the nicest place we have ever camped!! The hot shower and dish washing station was more than amazing. He provides everything you need to cook a meal & sit down to enjoy it. Ted was super nice & accommodating, checking in on us to see if we needed anything. If I ever find myself in NY again, I will 100% stay here again!

Tip-top spot with breathtaking views in a great location, 45 minutes from Burlington and 45m-1.5h from the interior (Waterbury, Killington, Woodstock, Montpelier, Stowe), right in the heart of the Green Mountains. Melinda and Dave were very responsive to our messages and just great hosts. They maintain a beautiful, flat site with a lot of privacy, a stocked and cleaned outhouse, and complementary firewood. What’s not to love? This was our first trip with our rig up to Vermont and it’s definitely gonna be part of a regular rotation. Many thanks to these great people for letting us stay at their property! This is what HipCamp is all about.

Just as described- a lovely spot to stay. The port-a-potty was pleasant, the sink with a hose made it easy to keep everything clean and everyone hydrated, and the fire pit and picnic table were fun additions to our afternoons and evenings. jThe spot felt special because of the river's morning fog and evening beaver. I'd recommend staying here and I'd stay here again.

This was a great site!! It was exactly what was stated in the profile and what we were looking for. It has both 30 & 50 amp hook up, water and sewer. But the best part was our visitors in the morning. If you love horses this is the place. We had horses great us in the morning (do not feed the horses) not more than 10 feet away from our back door. In the afternoon we were able to see lessons going on from our chairs in a nice grassy area behind the trailer. All of the people at the farm were very friendly. The area around the farm has a lot to offer. Great hiking, shopping and restaurants. Very relaxing.

Overview
About
Spread out over 6 million acres, nearly half of which are owned by New York state, Adirondack Park is the largest publicly protected area in the Lower 48. Here you'll find old forests laced with thousands of miles of hiking trails, plus an extensive network of streams and rivers, making the area particularly popular for fishing and boating. Other popular activities include rock climbing, ice climbing, and—of course—camping. The park has tons of public and private campgrounds, many of which can only be reached by boat.

Tips for snagging a campsite
- You can reserve your campsite through New York State Parks online reservation system or over the phone.
- Walk-in camping is not allowed.
- Reservations open nine months in advance and remain open until 3pm on the day of your visit. Book early to ensure your chances of getting a spot, especially if coming in summer or on a weekend.
- If you can’t find a campsite in Adirondack Park on your preferred dates, you may have better luck with a Hipcamp in the area.
When to go
The Adirondacks are a year-round destination, with plenty of season-specific activities to choose from. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are popular in winter, when temperatures often drop well below freezing (and rarely get above 40°F), while spring is a good time to check out waterfalls. Summertime temperatures often get up to the low 90°s F, making the season ideal for camping and hiking, while autumn is a good time to see fall colors on display.
Know before you go
- Newcomb’s Adirondack Park Visitor Interpretive Center is a good place to start your visit. Here you can get hiking and camping recommendations, find out about local events, and check out interpretive exhibits.
- Just over half of New York's black bear population lives in Adirondack Park. Store food, cooking supplies, garbage, and scented toiletries in your car or in bear-safe lockers.
- Adirondack Park is free to enter, but camping fees apply at state-run campgrounds.
- The park features numerous ADA-accessible campgrounds and recreational areas.

Rogers Rock is one the best campgrounds on the North end of Lake George! Large campground with several amenities. Provides easy access to the lake and nice secluded sites nestled in the woods. Will definitely be back.

We went camping here with our family for a week last summer and had the time of our lives! We loved it so much that we are going here for two weeks this summer and have already booked our two weeks for Summer 2021! The lake is perfect for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. The sites are large, well-spaced out, and shaded by hardwood trees. The bathrooms are recently renovated and the staff is incredibly freindly. You can rent canoes and rowboats from the campsite and there is plenty of available firewood available nearby. This campsite is well off the beaten path, which is part of its appeal. If you want a break from the hustle and bustle of life and want to enjoy the beauty of the Adirondacks, this it the place to do it!

Lake George island camping can be very noisy and overcrowded. We just booked Site 1 on Nobles Island (near Hewletts Landing) and cut our vacation short as it was so awful (this was our 7th trip to ADK). This was originally a two site island, with sites 1 and 2 at opposite ends of the island. Now a third site, site N003, has been carved out at the site 1 end and given its old dock. Sites 1 and 3 have no privacy, a very noisy party set up their kitchen 40 ft from our tent and were up banging and talking loudly at 6 am. They also stopped us using “their” dock even though it was closest to us for water (site 1 now has to share site 2’s dock, which is a trek with heavy stuff). Rocks are slimy and dangerous for swimming off/fetching water from.

My best friend and I camped at one of the remote sites, boating in with our gear and staying for two nights. It was late summer, quiet, and absolutely beautiful. We didn't see many others around the campgrounds, but occasionally spotted some other boats. Our site was up a rocky little cliff, set beneath tall pines overlooking the pond. Nearby trails wind around the pond (really large, more like a lake) and lead back to the boat basin. You can hear the water lapping and the loons calling at night this time of year. We can't wait to come back here and explore a little more, especially the High Peaks Wilderness (I was still nursing a strained knee during this trip--oops!).

the "walk in" sites 7-11 are very private, come with a beautiful mountain stream, and don't involve too much actual walking.

My favorite. Most sites are boat in &/or walk in only. There's 3 sites on islands but really most sites here are great. There are private docks on many sites and all have water access. Compost toilet and outhouses only- theres drinkable water faucet near boat dock.. Some areas have cell phone service. Ranger staff was very helpful.
Afternoon winds kicked otherwise placid lake up a bit during our week there, so try to get gear loaded by noon if youre rowing to site.

If you like hearing water, being on water and hoping in your kayak when you wake up then you should camp at Fish Creek Pond. Huge fans of the Adirondack Mountains and the miles and miles to explore, this is a well kept state run camp ground. Smaller sites for tents, we were on 273 and almost shared the space with the neighbors but they left early and we were able to space out. Incredibly nice people everywhere and I love the ice cream truck driving through at night and a coffee truck in the morning.

Love this place! It is remote and in the heart of the Adirondack High Peaks. It's just a twenty minute drive to Tahawus, a 19th century iron mining/smelting town. Tahawus (meaning "cloud splitter") is also the trailhead for hikes to many of the high peaks including New York's tallest, Mt. Marcy,

Fish creek was a great quiet campground! Our tent site was located on the edge of the lake; the sunsets were beautiful! If you can, I suggest a lake front site!

Stayed here on memorial day weekend. The camp grounds are wonderfully well kept and clean. The DEC staff, rangers, police were very polite in my experience - even on such a crowded and rowdy weekend. The site sizes are generally pretty small and they are all very close together. I would recommend registering for sites with vacancy on both sides if possible. I had a great experience camping here and would definitely come back.

Phenomenal fishing. Weak, weak camping. Very close to the famed Ausable River with boundless excellent trout fishing. But the campground has always been below par. Little to no privacy between the sites as they are almost all scattered throughout a grassy field. The campground is small and reservations are a must, given the proximity to Lake Placid and all the hiking and cycling opportunities in the region. But the facilities are in dire need of an update and depending on the year can vary from old to utterly gross. I am no wilting flower and am used to backcountry camping, but this place has been going downhill for years. Heart Lake and the ADK Loj in the High Peaks are much better places to stay, but farther from the water.

I've done some extensive camping and this was one of the coolest camping experiences!
All sites are available only by hiking or canoeing and have a unique view of Forked Lake. Pack light and compact or be prepared to make multiple trips! Campsites are primitive - looks like each has its own compost toilet and bear box, but no running water. Multiple spots to buy camp wood on the way into the site. The sites are very hidden from one another, but sound travels well across the lake.
The site is a quick drive to the short but difficult Blue Mountain hike, but if you choose to stay in the campgrounds during the day, there is plenty of canoeing. No clear signage about swimming but I saw a few people dip in.

Beautiful campground with full amenities (hot showers!). It is filled with Pine Trees so you can be assured of pine needles underfoot and delicious smells in the air. Sites are spaced well apart so that neighbors aren't a bother. Most are under tree canopies but the spot by the picnic area is great for star gazing.
Perfect staging area for hiking the High Peaks (ADK Lodge is ~40min away) or for a more leisurely day a trip to Lake Champlain Bridge. Tracy Road (behind the campground), with its serpentine twists is every motorcyclist's dream.

We were a group of 6 friends that camped on Alger Island for two nights in the end of August. The sites here are boat in sites and we have two canoes for 3 people each – we were able to fit all of our camping gear along with us in one go. It was very secluded with great views of the lake from out lean-to. The ground was very big – two picnic tables with enough room for our 8-person tent, and an outhouse not too far away. Our campground was partially shaded so there was enough coverage for when it drizzled a little. During the day we canoed around the lake and in the evening the water was at a nice temperature for a night swim! So far my favorite campsite in NY.

Spent 3 nights over Memorial Day Weekend 2015. Had site down the hill just off the Lake. Site was okay, but the facilities were not well maintained. On the last day I was rushed before checkout and got to the showers without my sandals. Didn't want to walk back down the hill to get them and ended up with my first case of athlete's foot. Bathroom had clogged drains and standing water. Best part of trip was hiking up Prospect Mountain, which is just west of the heart of downtown Lake George. If hiking wear good footwear, bring bug spray, and carry water. Trekking poles, as in any hike involving elevation, make the descent much easier and quicker.

Did 3 nights solo on Eagle Island. Rented a solo canoe at Adirondack lakes and Trails Outfitters. Great company, great people. They transport your canoe or kayak to any of the DEC boat launches. You'll need lots of water or a filter on the islands. Very rustic camping; fire ring, picnic table and outhouse, and no running water. I brought a tarp, and was able to lower it over a picnic table covered with gear when it poured the second night. The campsites are very wooded, you'll have no problem finding trees to tie a tarp to. If you rent a canoe you can get a good amount of gear to your site. A double can carry two adults and hundreds of pounds. Basic needs: tent with good rain fly, bags, pads, cook set, grill and headlamps.

Stayed overnight at campsite #6 on Sable Island. From the further launch ramp on Lower Saranac Lake, our island was about 2 miles away. With no one occupying the other 2 campsites, we had the island to ourselves, and it was awesome. Very surreal, waking up on an island in the middle of a large lake.
Things to note:
- You must have a pdf on your boat. This was the first time using our inflatable kayak, and didn't know that, so we were had to go into town and rent some.
- DON'T OVERPACK!!!! Cannot stress this enough. We eneded up needing 2 trips to get our gear in, and after 5 hours of driving, 4 miles of paddling just to set up was definitely not fun.

Small campsite with sites being very close together. Not much privacy (or space) between them. Highway runs alongside the campsite so the traffic noise in the morning is very loud. Bathrooms were clean and the staff was very nice and courteous. Few showers, so if it's a crowded day you may be waiting. Great place to stay as a pass through, but wouldn't really make it a destination. There is a nice waterfall a very short walk away.
